VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship Program

Good first day at the SVA NATCON!  I'll write more about specific sessions I attended and things I learned in a consolidated post at the end of the gathering...Probably on the flight back home.

However, it was truly a pleasure to meet eight of the ten Fellows this evening and have dinner with them.  I am really impressed with the depth of thought these amazing people have given to their legislative projects, to include Veteran suicide, transitioning veterans, and MST training within the Department of Defense.  And they can't just toss out a problem, they have to formulate how they will address it through federal policy solutions and community-based advocacy.  These ten will also attend the VFW Legislative Conference in March and be a part of our process in DC.

After talking with these motivated veterans, I am left with the distinct pleasure in knowing that the folks coming behind us have an amazing grasp of the issues and solutions.  They are smart, enthusiastic, and they are driven to help change things for the betterment of all. I can't wait to read their actual work product in due course.  With veterans like this, I know our future is bright!
