Student Veterans of America National Convention

Long travel day but I made it to Los Angeles for this Convention.  After a white-knuckle Uber from the airport to the JW Marriott LA LIVE Mama and I found a nearby off leash dog park for both of us to take a break.  The only issue?  It's about four city blocks away so when she has to go we will both get our exercise getting there.

The SVA was founded in 2008.  In 2013 the VFW signed a Memorandum of Understanding with them to leverage both of our organizations to better help student veterans succeed in higher education.  It's been a good relationship and we have helped the SVA quite a bit.  There are many break out sessions and panels this weekend all designed to help educate student veterans.  Some of them look pretty interesting and I'm looking forward to attending as many as I can.  Many run concurrently so I'll do my best to hit the ones that seem more pertinent to our mission.  Oh yeah, it also looks like I'll be speaking at the Honors Awards Banquet Sunday night.  That should be fun!

Gaining the perspective of student veterans this weekend will be valuable for our organization as we move forward.  I'm looking forward to seeing what motivates this group of individuals and passing on what I learn.

And as Thursday winds down, I'll leave you with a California sunset, as seen from my room!
