I made it to Alaska! My luggage? Not so much

I got home from the SVA Convention, dropped off the dog at the Howliday Inn, and had a few hours to clean clothes, say hi to Megan, pack, and get back to the airport by 0300 on the 7th.  St. Louis, to Minneapolis, to Seattle, then on to Anchorage.  Easy Peasy.

Well, not so much.  I have to say that in Minneapolis Delta came up with some really novel excuses as to why the plane was ALREADY full of cargo, why a whole lot of people were getting tossed off, and oh by the way, it's windy so you might be late in Seattle.  We finally boarded, very late.  Sat on the runway, adding to the lateness.  Then the pilot decided that the potential ice that may have been on the plane the entire day it had been sitting there should probably be de-iced.  Another delay.

But, we took off and eventually got to Seattle....where we sat on the tarmac waiting for a gate to open.  While we waited, the flight attendant informed me that the plane driving by us to take off was my flight to Anchorage!  With the great help of Bonnie at Veterans Travel Service she was able to get me on Alaskan Air a few hours later.  Alaska Junior Vice Commander Todd was waiting for me and we filled out a form that hopefully will track down my luggage.  An hour plus later we were in Wasilla, and visited his Post 9365 waiting to find out about the suitcase.  Eventually Alaska Air called to say they tracked down the bag that Delta let get away and they would get it to my hotel.  As I'm writing this, I'm still waiting, but they said it will get here.  I have faith.

Tomorrow Todd is going to take me around to see the sights.  He told me, again, it's cold. I get it, trust me, it's cold.  Right now it's -20 degrees.  I might ask that big grizzly in the lobby if I can borrow his coat!
